Helping to Change the Outcome
Increased colonoscopic surveillance. Lynch syndrome diagnosis has been shown to improve outcomes:
- Increases life expectancy up to 13.5 years (based on decision analysis models)
- Prospective data has shown that overall survival improved dramatically in Lynch syndrome patients who received regular colonoscopic screenings
- Overall mortality decreased about 65%
Importantly, preventive surgery following a Lynch syndrome diagnosis with hereditary cancer testing may significantly reduce the risk of gynecologic cancer.

Hereditary cancer testing also enables healthcare professionals to:
- Target increased surveillance and other interventions only to individuals with Lynch syndrome- maximizing patient care and increasing clinical efficiency
- Significantly improve outcomes and reduce medical costs through early diagnosis and treatment of cancer, should it develop
- Counsel patients and family members on the underlying cause of a cancer in their family
- Avoid the cost and complications of unnecessary interventions involving family members who do not test positive for Lynch syndrome
