ABOUT RAISE THE RED FLAG

The Raise the Red Flag Coalition was created to raise awareness of hereditary cancer among physicians, patients, and their families. The movement encourages health care professionals, patients, and their families to gather information about the patient's family history and determine if there is an increased cancer risk. This knowledge can help in managing existing cancers, reducing the risk of a secondary cancer in those who already have the disease, and may even help prevent the occurrence of cancer in the future.

Though there are a number of genetic abnormalities that increase cancer risk, this site focuses on Lynch syndrome, also known as Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC).

To learn more about other Hereditary Cancers, click the Hereditary Cancers button on the Main Menu.

The Raise the Red Flag movement will function as an active, online community, allowing patients and their families to:

  • Join discussion groups with other patients and have access to the latest information, patient videos, and podcasts

  • Connect to Raise the Red Flag social networks on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter

  • Find out if you or members of your family are at risk for hereditary cancer and what you can do about it-right now.
